Speaking Engagements

Whether you need to energize staff or add a memorable speaker to an annual banquet, Joel Sartore is a great match for your next event.

He's been speaking to audiences around the world for over a dozen years, and can tailor a presentation to fit your specific needs.

Joel uses experiences from a life on assignment to capture the attention of audiences ranging from ten people to thousands.

"Very cool, very real, all too amazing."

     -Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium

Joel has been a contributing photographer for National Geographic Magazine for nearly two decades. Roaming from the Arctic to the Amazon, he’s been charged by grizzly bears, battled flesh-eating parasites, and had plenty of other close calls. Now he brings your organization a first-hand, riveting account of life on assignment for the world’s greatest magazine.

Delivered with humor, Sartore shares his experiences in a warm, candid manner, captivating audience attention and leaving a lasting impression. His award-winning photographs serve as a testament to all that he’s seen.

"We have used Joel for many different events and each time he never fails to dazzle our clients with his presentations. His sense of humor along with his knowledge combine to give attendees an unforgetable experience."

     - Andy van Duym, National Geographic Society

Besides his work in the Geographic, Sartore’s photographs have appeared in hundreds of books and magazines including Time, Life, Newsweek, Audubon, and Sports Illustrated. He has been featured on The National Geographic Channel, National Public Radio, and been the subject of At Close Range, an hour-long documentary on PBS. He is also a regular contributor to the CBS Sunday Morning Show with Charles Osgood.

"The feedback has been overwhelming. Joel's message was heartfelt - and sobering."

     - Laura Dupuy, Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy

Joel’s most recent (and most popular) presentation is Grounded: A Reflection on the Use of Life and Land. In it he recounts not only the years spent shooting for NG, but how his wife’s recent battle with breast cancer refocused and reconnected him to his family and with the reason he takes pictures in the first place; to show people the natural world, get them to care, and save the Earth.

Other topics include:
  • Climate Change: Making sense of global warming
  • Motivation in the Workplace, Wherever It May Be
  • On Assignment for National Geographic
  • America’s Endangered Species
  • Work, Family and Staying Sane In the Balance
